More about this scene
Castle Street runs north from the town centre. Two boys are using the drainage dyke to sail their toy yacht. The town was once a significant cloth-producing centre, renowned for its kersey. After the decline in its fortunes, the town found new prosperity through John Heathcoat's foundries, sawmills and agricultural machinery factory.
