More about this scene
The village stands on the River Medway in a somewhat blighted industrial landscape. In 1895 there were already extensive lime and cement works in the neighbourhood, as well as a large paper mill. However, this view of the village street shows that there are still some historic buildings left in Snodland, despite its massive expansion. There is now a bypass which takes traffic away from the centre.
