South Benfleet, Boyce Hill Golf Links c.1955

More about this scene
Boyce Hill took its name from a medieval land-owning family: their farm stood where the clubhouse now is. Benfleet's wooded hills once provided vital material for fuel and boat-building. Though still fairly well-endowed with trees in the 1950s, the slopes were vanishing under the housing developments of Tarpots and New Thundersley.
