More about this scene
We can see the letters of part of the surname of the owner, John Prichard, above the entrance to the Angel Hotel on the left. Two doors up there are postcards outside the stationer, book- seller and Athenaeum Library of Evans Harrison. The lamp post on the right marks the site of the town's first post office of 1835. Rising in the centre, the clock tower of the Town Hall of 1870 is a highly visible symbol of civic pride.
