Alderley Edge, Trafford's Well c.1955

More about this scene
The wells on the Edge are dripping wells rather than bubbling springs. The water seeps out above an impermeable clay bed. Although the odd drink might not cause harm, as thirsty dogs can testify, the high mineral content, including lead and cobalt, means that the water is not fit to drink.
