A Memory of Aldershot.

I spent many happy evenings here as a young soldier in QARANC (army nursing corps) from December 1965 until early 1967 when I was posted to Germany.

Just about everyone military stationed in Aldershot congregated here at some time or another, and it was there, while undertaking my basic military traiing that I met my first real love, whom I later married. Dances were held there in the ballroom at weekends and it was a happy hunting ground for boy seeks girl and vice versa. On this particular evening I'd gone out wearing a close fitting, Cheong Sam dress (which had been a gift from a previous sailor boyfriend), and I was cutting quite a dash with queues of young men wanting to dance. But from this crowd of admirers emerged a young man who I somehow suddenly knew would become special to me! And so it was. So this is very nostalgic for me as I stare back down the years to 1965 when I was young and life was so exciting!
