At the entrance to the Alton House Hotel, on the right, is a sign showing that it was RAC approved. It was also AA approved, and appeared in the AA Handbook for 1972, when it had 2 stars. There were 25 bedrooms, and the terms were between £2 and £2.50 per person per night, or between £17 and £22 per week for bed and breakfast.
