More about this scene
Described as a 'neo-Gothic monstrosity', Wray Castle was built for the eccentric Liverpool surgeon, James Dawson, in 1840–47. Once used as a holiday home by the sixteen-year-old Beatrix Potter and her family, the castle was later acquired by the National Trust, and has for many years been used as a training centre for marine communications.
