My twin brother and I were born in 1936 in King Edward Road, a stones throw from the old dance hall and the Westbury Arms Pub. We started our education at Westbury Infants and Junior School where the Head Master was a Mr Cox. We eventually moved to St Erkenwal (Music) Road, where we saw the destruction of St Pauls Church on the corner with Ripple Road by a German Rocket during the war. My second ...see more
I was born in Upney Hospital in 1943 and lived in Cecil Avenue, opposite the old off license. I went to Ripple School. We eventually moved to Westminster Gardens just around the corner to Bobby Moore (name dropping) where we used to kick a ball about in Greatfields Park. I used to live in the Barking/Dagenham area from 1945-1973.I was born at Barking hospital,sometimes known as Upney in 1945.I lived on the corner of Rugby Road and Bromhall Road,my mum and dad moved there from Bromley by Bow when they got married in 1930.
