Basildon, Town Square c.1965

More about this scene
This is a good study of the stark angularity favoured by 1960s architects. The children's clothing, too, is characteristic of the time. The 'Mother and Child' sculpture, behind the children, now forms part of Basildon's logo, such has been the extent to which people associate it with the town.
