More about this scene
We are looking upstream, towards St Michael's Church, from the old quay; until the 1950s, Thames barges delivered grain here to Green's Mill. The iron bridge of c1880 replaced a medieval stone bridge. The Waveney forms the boundary between Suffolk and Norfolk, where the boys are fishing.
