More about this scene
Beeston was one of a series of fortresses built by Rannulf de Blundeville, Earl of Chester and Lincoln. Rannulf died before Beeston was finished, with the result that the domestic buildings were never erected. The castle passed into royal hands, and during the Civil War it withstood a year-long siege before surrendering on 16 November 1645.
