Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

The foundation stone was laid in October 1954 by the late Princess Margaret and blessed by the Lord Bishop of St Albans. St Michael's was built to provide a church for the rapidly expanding town of Borehamwood. The bell came from the mortuary chapel at Ayot St Peter, to whom it had been donated by Charles Willes Wilshere of The Frythe in 1876.

Sunday School In A Contractors Hut.
In 1953 my father worked as a builder contractor and was persuaded to allow the new vicar, the Rev .Lawrence, to hold Sunday school in a temporary bricklayer's hut. So every Sunday we picked our reluctant way through the mud and scaffolding to spend an hour listening to stories. Eventually, St. Michaels and All Angels was built and I remember standing in my scout's uniform waving a union jack when it was opened by Princess Margaret.

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
