Bradford, The Wool Exchange And Market Street 1897

More about this scene
The foundation stone for this £40,000 building was laid by Lord Palmerston in 1864. This proud Gothic trade house was home to three thousand dealers, who traded wool from West Yorkshire, the colonies and the Far East. It contains a number of statues of prominent men of Bradford, which became a city in the year of this photograph. The Wool Exchange is now sympathetically restored to a well-stocked book shop.
