The blurred images of the children in the foreground remind us of the long exposure times photographers needed in those days. Coal was exported downriver from here - in 1756, 87 boats were registered in Broseley to transport coal. Local businessmen were also keen investors in the iron bridge, which opened markets to the north.

I was born 1937 in the big house at the bottom of Leggs Hill. My earliest memories relate to living in Kings Street and starting school at Leggs Hill, I did not like school, it was a far cry from my loving home life.
