More about this scene
By the end of the 19th century, Church Road was Burgess Hill's main shopping centre. The corner building on the right, partly occupied by the Farm Shop Dairy, was once known as Terry's Corner after Mr Edward Terry, a draper from Brighton. Owing to his policy of 'good value for cash', his enterprise eventually expanded from a single shop, built in 1887, into six shops.
