Two bridges and a ford cross the stream that flows past the Blue Anchor Inn, which stands at the centre of the village. A pub since at least 1870, it was largely rebuilt in 1947 and renamed the 'Friendly Spirit' about seventeen years ago on account of an inoffensive ghost said to appear in one of the upper rooms.
