More about this scene
We are on the south-east coast at Cawsand Bay; the twin villages perched above the beach, where fishing boats are drawn up. The fields and woods of the Mount Edgcumbe estate reach down to the water. A sailing vessel is tacking out in the bay in front of Fort Picklecombe, one of the mid-Victorian defences to protect Devonport's naval dockyard.
