More about this scene
The Railway Hotel, near the Chandler's Ford station, changed its name to the Monks Brook Inn after the closure of the station in 1969. The name remains, although the station has been reopened. The road leads to the village of Hursley, and all this area was once part of the Hursley Manor Estate. The service station on the left is now a car showroom. Immediately behind was the long established firm of Dean & Son, suppliers of garden materials. Sad to say, there is now a large block of flats on the site.
