More about this scene
Little of the Roman town or medieval city remains, as Chichester was almost entirely rebuilt by the end of the 18th century. The Wheatsheaf Hotel (right) displaced an earlier 17th-century victuallers, and the 19th-century properties on the right replaced the early 16th-century shops that had slowly encroached onto the city's medieval market site.
