More about this scene

This delightful little gatehouse has not changed at all. It sits by an entrance on the south of the estate. The estate covers around 800 acres, and includes gardens which have been described as 'the most romantically beautiful' - they were largely laid out in the 19th century, although they were extensively replanted in the 1960s.

A Selection of Memories from Cholmondeley Castle

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Cholmondeley Castle

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

I remember the Lodge well - my Grandparents lived there. I was born in 1944 and stayed in Cholmondeley and went to school there when my Mother died. Loved Beeston Lodge and the animals my Grandfather kept. His name was Howard Vincent. I also had other family members living in Cholmondeley - Tom Vincent and Howard Vincent and my Aunt lived in Broxton Millie Hopley. Does anyone remember those days
