Conwy, Castle Street 1913

More about this scene
Built by Edward I, Conwy Castle glowers at the head of this street scene as it dominates the town. The building on the right is Aberconwy House, a rare survival of medieval Conwy and one of the oldest buildings in Wales. It was used as a temperance house around the time of the photograph. It is interesting that the half-timbering is contemporary with the picture, and conceals the original structure (which has now been restored by the National Trust).
