Corfe Castle, The Hotels 1899

More about this scene
The little town of Corfe is older than its castle; it is the Corvergate of the 'Anglo-Saxon Chronicle'. It is an ideal centre for exploring the Isle of Purbeck, and there is much of interest within the village boundary. The Bankes Arms is named after the prominent Dorset family, which included Lady Bankes, the 17th-century defender of the castle.
