Crewe, Market Square c.1960

More about this scene
The Square is dominated by Crewe's war memorial, which is a very grand affair; so it should be – it commemorates so many people from the town. An idea of the number of people remembered can be gained when we consider that each metal plaque around the statue (just behind the seats where people are sitting) lists the people who died, and there are several of these plaques.
