More about this scene
This is a lovely wide open space with ample room for the Friday market. This photograph must have been taken from the Trinity Bridge. On the left, Parnell's shop is now the Ideal Shop, still selling newspapers. The white shop in the distance is still a ladies' hairdresser's, and on the right under the sunblind there is now Lloyds the chemist's. Notice the superb thatching on the house on the left. Further down, near all the cars, is Frydays, a good fish and chip shop and restaurant.
