Can anybody help me please. I am looking for an old friend Doreen Barnett who lived in Brent Lane. She had a sister Eileen. Doreen was a close friend of my late husband Graham Board and was a frequent visitor to our house in Park Road when we first married. We lost touch when we moved to Pembury. Doreen was Godparent to my eldest son Andrew.

My mum Dorothy Fewtrell and myself Margaret use to go to the market in the mid 50s - we would come home with baby rabbits and young chickens - it was a fun time. I think I was about 13. I used to go dancing above a shop in Dartford - think the shop was a men's clothes shop the name Bolton not sure if the name but like that,I now live in Australia
I have a book available entitled 'Mayhem at the Manor', describing daily life at school and living in Dartford in 1963 when we endured one of the worst winters on record. If anyone is interested in a copy, please contact me.
Please can someone remind me of the name of the Fishing Tackle Shop in Low field Street, Dartford, where I used to join/rejoin DDA&PS each year?
From 1947 I lived in Bedford Road at the top of East Hill but my maternal grandparents lived in the prefabs at the other end of town. The name Blackmans Close sticks in my mind for some reason but I’m not sure if it’s my memory playing tricks - at the age of 75 that seems to happen at times lol. During the doodlebug attacks on Dover, my mum was an air raid warden. She had a friend with her and they saw the doodlebug engine cut out and dive to earth. It landed near Pauls Place but did not explode. We went to watch it and cordon the area off. The Royal Engineers came and made it safe. My mum asked the engineers if she could do anything to help - one of the men, a sergeant, said "make us a cup of tea", ...see more
I just browsed a few relatively recent pics of Ripley's Market in Lowfield St. So sad to see it derelict like that when all I have is happy memories. I knew the Ripley family well, they lived in Horns Cross and I went to school with Peter right from primary. Anyone remember a shop called Indigo in Dartford?
I used to go to Dartford on the train, with my mum, once in a while, and I remember a shop called indigo, I can’t remember what it sold (I’m guessing jeans) It’s a memory that’s stuck in my mind.

I lived in seaton rd and went to wentworth primary school from 1954 till i left and went to dartford west secondary high school
My parents owned fish and chip shops in Lowfield street. 100 and 297 Lowfield street. One was opposite the Cressy Arms
There was a cafe next door , the son was called Brian Penfol,d I think but not sure , there was a cycle shop a few doors down called Husseys , the son was called Colin
My brother worked at the Paper Mills and lived in Norman Road
