Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

Moreland Ave

A Memory of Dartford.

Yes I remember the V2 rocket that came down in Moreland Ave.I had just returned from the air raid shelter when the siren went again, we did not have time to go to the shelter again.I was in bed and when I pulled the bed covers back the room was full of dust and the windows were broken, this was at 138 Dartford Road.
The V2 rocket hit the gas main and the flames lit up the sky. A Mrs Coward was killed and her husband lost a part of his arm and I think blinded in one eye.
I think this was the last V2 to land in England

Mrs Coward was my grandmother and my mother Monica who is 91 was in the house when it was bombed. She still has strong memories of that day and other memories of Dartford.

Mother Orchard.You might remember the Rowlands family
that lived very near to the Coward family and also me John from Norman Mills grocers as they were customers of ours

I lived at 14 Gainsborough avenue dartford from 1928 to 1948, I heard the sound of a flying bomb coming, looked out the kitchen window to see it fly over and the engine sound cut out, it must have glided on to Moreland avenue, this was in march 1945 and was one of the last Doodle bugs as we called them that the Germans sent.there was no warning air raid siren.I was 17 years old. allan smith.

I knew Mrs Rowlands at one time she worked with me at Norman Mills the grocers a lovely lady
