Born And Bred..................

A Memory of Denbigh.

I was born in Denbigh in 1939 in a house named Parc y Twll near the entrance to the Denbigh Hospital. We moved next door to St Davids which is at the entrance. My father worked at the Hospital and I spent my childhood roaming the grounds and the wonderful farm the hospital owned and ran nearby. There was once a barn fire at the farm and I was given the job of holding a hose - duly photographed by Ronald Thompson. Tommy Davies the then shoemaker at the hospital was my great friend. He later became mayor of Denbigh.I went to HMS Conway in Anglesey when 13 and joined the merchant Navy at 16. My sister Christine went to Howells school. We both had wonderful childhoods in Denbigh.

Robert Frost is now retired and living in Tasmania
