Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

The Castle Hotel looks iced as exuberantly as a birthday cake. The extravagant frontage, with its battlements, Venetian window and heavy rustication, was added to a simpler, more homely facade in the 18th century. Such facings were popular, for they created a fresh, fashionable character, without the necessity for wholesale demolition and rebuilding.

Lovely Town To Grow Up In
Lived here for the first 28 years of my life. Great memories of the old primaryschool with Mr J Waterson as headmaster. Remember lots of sweet shops, no wonder my teeth needed some fillings. Every used to know everyone then. The town cinema was msrvellous, shame it is no more. Went back a few weeks ago it has lost it's character now . Shame

Downham Market
More memories of Downham Market. When you walk along Church Road from Cannon Square on the right hand side of the road there is an alley way (a walk going down to the high st), it is called 'sounding alley'. The name was established many years ago because in Church Road there used to be a bell foundry where bells were made and when walking down the alley you could hear the bells. Child Hood And Teen Age Years
Downham Market in my younger days was a happy small market town where everyone knew everyone else, in the days before overspill there were lots of small shops, like the bakers Stannards and Slys where you would queue for ages for your bread while everyone caught up with the town news and scandal, and the Regent cinema was very popular and the queue used to be from the cinema to the Coffee Pot ...see more

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
