Eventually the Earl of Dudley gave the priory ruins to the people of Dudley, and the council laid out the grounds to form a public park, where people can still sit in contemplation, much as their Cluniac forebears did many centuries earlier. Today, perhaps, there are just a few more distractions, such as the young ladies who seem to have caught the eye of the man on the bench here!
