More about this scene
Dunoon Pier, devoid of shipping. During the early 1880s, problems with drunken Glaswegians running amok in the coastal towns had led to the withdrawal of Sunday excursion sailings. With pubs in Glasgow being shut on the Sabbath, the only place to get a drink had been onboard an excursion steamer.
