More about this scene

Dunsfold, north-west of Alfold, has a very large rectangular green, and the parish church of about 1270 is half a mile to the west. Frith's photographer has chosen to record the post office, a somewhat feeble piece of Surrey vernacular revival-style with a tile-hung first floor. The building still houses a shop, the Village Stores and Post Office, but the pillar box (in use in this view) has been moved to the right-hand side of the shop front.

Life At The Schoolhouse 1951 To 1958
My mother, Betty Cronin, was the head teacher at Dunsfold School from around 1951 to 1958 and I lived in the schoolhouse with her and my sister Susan during this period. Both my sister and I went to school in Guildford which involved a two-bus journey there and back each day. I have many memories of life in the village during this time, too many to mention in detail. Burningfold Hall Hotel
My name is Laura Evison. I stayed at Burningfold twice for about 5 months each time. I especially remember my second visit in 1958 when I was 11 yrs old. My Dad was in the British Foreign Service in Chicago, IL USA. Burningfold Hall Hotel was run by Mr. & Mrs. Lovell Williamson. I attended the Dunsfold Village School, Mr. Bampton was the Head Master. Linda Howell Nee Peachey
I lived and worked for the west family at upper ifold from 1967 to 1969. I was voted bonfire queen in 1968 I remember being friends with Barry Coote and Nigel Petty?whose parents owned the village shop I remember lilla who lived in bin hams meadow who helped us at upper of old. Boxing day hunt meets in the village.I remember the Turton and Burning fold Manor. Very fond memories 2015.

Wartime Dances On Saturday Nights In Dunsfold
I can't remember where we performed (somebody help? I believe it was off the Dunsfold Green), but I was a member of a four piece dance band that in 1940-42 + came every Sat night from Witley to provide dance music for the airforce folk at Dunsfold Air base (remember those Mitchell's) and the local girls. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
