Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

We are looking north along the A5, with the Town Hall tower on the grey horizon. Tall telegraph poles carry messages the length of the nation, but technology is still so new and remarkable that the urchins here pause for the camera. The avenue of trees ensures that for all the demands of encroaching industry, Dunstable's citizens remain in touch with nature.

This Really Jolts The Memory
Just to the left on the photo was a very small Tesco supermarket, it looked cheap and nasty and we avoided going in there at all costs. How things have changed! In the parade of shops on the left was a trendy gents clothes shop, Crosby's, I think. I know I spent a great deal of my hard earned cash in there. Downside Estate
I remember Downside Estate, Morecombe Road (I think it was Road) very well as one of my best friends Pauline lived there and we used to go down to The Greyhound pub, High Street South, on Saturday nights. She used to have some fun parties too. I haven't thought about those in years.

This Takes Me Back
I remember Waitrose from my childhood, every Saturday afternoon I would come here with my parents to do the weekly shop. Then nip over to George Orts for some of their lovely pastries. Little did I realise that I would end up in the bakery trade. Down by the clock there was a large Boots Chemist to the right. There were quite a few shops in The Quadrant but I can not remember many of them.

Ashton School
I attended Aston school in church street. Mr cunningham was the headmaster. The school had a path up to it with cottages to the right.(now demolished ) Many happy years there, especially with mrs pratt. I failed my 11 plus and went to Brewers hill and now i have an honours degree in history from huddersfield university.. so much for the 11 plus.

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
