More about this scene
The east end of the High Street, looking east. Ye Dorset Arms, once the town's principal coaching inn, had many changes of proprietor at this time, and its brickwork had already suffered the indignity of white paint. The handsome Dorset House next door is dated 1705. The motor car has one of the earliest registration plates (London, 1904) and may have been one of the first seen in East Grinstead.
