More about this scene
The first part of Newtown was built as workers` cottages for the employees of the ironworks, and the other section was for workers in the brick works. These early industrial houses no longer remain, but the Britannia Inn, where the workers drank, has survived from the 1840s. The Bridge End public house (right) has much more recent origins.
