Shop In Market Street

A Memory of Eckington.

I worked at the co-op drapery, next door to Davys and Frisbys shoe shop at the other side in 1955 untill I married and left in 1960. The manager was Mr Shaw from Chesterfield. The other girls who worked with me were Gyneth Haywood who lived in Eckington, Barbara Jessop who also lives in Eckington, Diane Fiddler who was married to Jimmy Fiddler and lived across from the Alma pub at Mosborough. The man that worked with us was Horrice Baker. I think he lived on Mary Street. My name was Barbara Sewell until i married and became Glossop. I lived at Killamarsh and still there.

My grandparents lived on Mary Street - number 9 I think - it was on the corner. And my uncle and aunt lived a few doors down. They all passed away in the 70s and 80s but I have lots of memories there. I grew up in Eckington and attended Camm's. My dad owned a local printing shop on Station Road. My name back then was Pam Walkley. Now I am Pam Erikson and live in Canada but love to look online to find others! My mother was Shirley Firth (before she became Walkley) who also grew up in Mosborough. My grandmother was Pattie Firth and she lived in Moor Valley Mosborough and she will be an amazing 105 this year! If anyone out there knows any of us, please feel free to email pamerikson@uniserve.com We all live in Canada now.
