More about this scene
Set off the main road, this square accommodates considerably more parked cars today. The Square or old Market Place of Elham adjoins the church yard on the north side, and a weekly market was held here until the 18th century. The old market booths, which backed on to the churchyard, were later converted into cottages and demolished in the 1940s. The church is built of flint, and is known as 'the capital church of the Elham Valley'.
