More about this scene
One stop down the line from Enfield town, Bush Hill Park station was opened in 1880 to service this development by the Northern Estates Company. The grand pub and the simple working men's houses and shops in St Marks Road and First Avenue are all of a similar date. Beyond the featureless station wall, the more up-market buildings of Queen Annes Place and Dryden Road can be seen. Close by, in Private Road, is a house of some architectural significance designed in the Arts and Crafts manner by Arthur Macmurdo for his brother.
