More about this scene
Ice cream - or 'Hokey Pokey' as it was known to the Victorians -has long been a popular fare on Exmouth sea front. It would have been sold in a block on a sheet of paper. Here we see the stall of Capocci & Sons, a well-known Italian ice cream maker resident in Exmouth. Capocci's sales cry was 'Hokey Pokey, penny a lump, that's the stuff to make you jump'.
