A Holliday At A Manor House

A Memory of Fornethy Residential School.

My name is Donna Boyd then Wilson. l went in 1968 then again in 72. I have good memories - so good I would have went back again if I could. l remember the long walks through the woods also walking down the stoney Brae to the stream - we would paddle and we had a packet lunch and all the girls and I had a great time. I enjoyed the classroom we would write home and also get our mail - I always got a comic and a letter from my mum and dad.
The second time I was there I was a dinner monitor and had to clear the tables after every meal. Us monitors got to go berry picking. On a Saturday night we had movie night I always enjoyed it. I remember music class where I learnt the words to a few songs .l remember playing in the maze and having fun getting lost. l just wish everyone had a great time as well. The people responsible for all cruelty that went on l hope they get their come-up-pence. l came from Maryhil and when I arrived I was so amazed at how grand the house looked I could not wait to go inside . The name of my dorm was Clover and I just loved it. I really do wish everyone had a great time like me. The school was very strict but for me it was fair. l am still very shocked to hear about all the horror stories and there are a lot that happened. l would like to hear some happy stories as well.l could go on and on but another time. Donna I'm
