A Memory of Fornethy Residential School.

Sent here early 80's for 3 weeks. I'm now 50. HELL on earth! Forced to eat porridge which made me sick even though I told them this. Watched a monitor at another table forced to eat food from floor that another younger child had dropped. Ten mile walks every day with holes in my shoes. And I was only 11 and had taken my period. That didn't go down well.
Will NEVER forget her telling me I was scum because of the area I.lived in then and made to feel bad about my period. Couldn't tell my mum what was going on as they read our letters before sending them home. Remember going to the laundry to get different socks and one of the teachers screaming in my face how I nearly cost the woman her job! I've NEVER forgotten the horrors of that place and had once contacted Perthshire Council to start a complaints procedure but never took it any further. Well this time I WILL! LETS all stand together and hopefully there abusers are still alive and brought to task!
