Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

St Andrews Church

A Memory of Frimley Green.

St Andrews Church must have been at least a mile and a half from the Worseley Road council Estate where we lived from 1951 until 1960 at Hillside Crescent. From a very young age a group of us would walk there and back on a Sunday afternoon to attend Sunday School. My sister Moira was christened there in 1956. The Reverend was Laurie Payne and there was a deaconess but her name slips my memory. It was a pretty little church back then.We never had any adults accompany us. I guess it was safer in those days with less traffic. I am sure our parents enjoyed having a bit of peace and quiet on a Sunday afernoon!!!

Barbara Clement was the deaconess - she recruited me as a Sunday School teacher in the late 50s. I joined the RAF in 1963, but came back for my wedding in 1963; Laurie Pain came back to marry us - by then he was vicar of Rowledge. Later Barbara was appointed Chaplain at Frimley Park Hospital and subsequently assisted at St Peters. She was a very special person.

Thank you for reminding me of her name. Yes she was a kind person and much liked. How lovely that Laurie Payne married you. I know my mother thought a lot of them both. We moved to Southampton in 1960 and she never really found a church she liked as much.
