More about this scene
Frinton developed in a quieter manner than Clacton or Walton, and it has always had a rather genteel air. In 1885 the Marine & General Company purchased land here, and began building Frinton Haven, which was to have a market, a pier, a tidal basin, and pleasure gardens. Several of these ideas, such as the pier, were later abandoned. A group of children pose around a rock pool, with varying degrees of stiffness. The panama hats and high stockings are typical of the early 1920s.
