Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

Owing its rapid development to the Industrial Revolution, the town's streets and buildings tended to be functional rather than attractive. The closure after the Second World War of Marshalls, the tractor manufacturers, and Watsons, the boatbuilders, left a hole in employment opportunities and this street has become even more run-down. For Sale signs, fast food outlets, charity shops and bookmakers now dominate the town.

My First Appointment In Gainsborough.
I started my career in public health as Additional Sanitary Inspector in Gainsborough in 1947 at the magnificent salary of £390 per annum with a cycle allowance of £12. John Carter was the Chief and, apart from a Clerk,and the Medical Officer, the only other employee was a retired butcher who not only was the rat catcher,- but was required to carry out meat inspection at the slaughterhouse !! ...see more

Publc Baths
my granddad ran the swimming /slipper /public baths his name was Talbot I learned to swim there as dad was an instructor. I went to the school across the road Any one who knows more get in touch thank you

Clarke/Fisher Gainsborough/Corringham
My Grandmother, born Jesse Fisher in Corringham around the 1900s married Arthur Percy Clarke of Gainsborough and gave birth to my father Phillip Arthur Clarke in 1920. They lived in Church Road/Path? and then from 1930 Sandsfield Lane possibly no. 29. My Grandfather worked as a lathe opperator at Marshalls after the first war. Gainsborough
The Gainsborough today is not the Gainsborough of my youth. It was a busy market town with a very busy market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. A lot of farmers came into town on a Tuesday to take care of their business, a quick pint and haircut. While we never had a lot of the top shops you could get everything you wanted. Genealogy & Research Images

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
