Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

School Days

A Memory of Gateshead.

Born in 1934 I attended Rose Street school in the Teams.. I'd like to know if anyone else remembers those times, during the war, - the air-raid shelters, the gas masks that had to be carried all the time, the parcels from Canada that were distributed at the school ,orange juice, cod liver oil and only brown bread. Mainly is anyone from my class who left school in 1949 still out there? My former name was Greenwood and I'm now living in Australia.

My late Mam would have been the year below you at Rose Street School, she was born in 1935 in Fleming Street

I was born in 1930, and the nearest I ever got to the Teams was when we went to live with my Uncle Alec in Bensham during the war. I still remember the anti-aircraft guns going off during the air raids, They weren't very far away from where we were. I'm afraid that the only thing we have in common is hat I live in Australia too. Queensland. Bill.

I am pretty sure my mam went to Rose street. She was born in January 1935 so may have been the same school year. Her maiden name was Blakey. She grew up in Almond Crescent, and was a twin.

My mam was born in 1929 and went to Prest Street School. She is called Nancy Keenan and her mam and dad owned the paper shop on Askew Road. She was 90 at the beginning of June and celebrated her birthday by dancing and singing. My granda and Nana were called Jimmy and Harriet Keenan.q
