More about this scene
The shop with the Senior Service canopies (right) belonged to Dorothy `Dolly` Dowsett. She sold sweets, stationery, records, toys, ice cream, and the ever-popular `fancy goods`. She remained in business until 1973. Next door was Rumsey`s carpet and bedding shop, and beyond that, the long frontage of the Eastern Electricity showroom.
