When I was about 5 or so, I ended up here by ambulance suffering from double pneumonia. I gave my watch to the boy in the bed next to mine because I thought he was in a worse shape than me! Nice to see the fresh air doors in the end patio section again after all these years.
My grandmother left England on 27th September 1923 for Beria Mozambique. Her address on the ships log is given as 53 Wellington Road North, Houndslow.
I have been over to have a look hoping to find this house, but the address seems no longer to exist.
The houses on the town centre side of Wellington Road North 38 - 52 are still there and intact Victorian Terrace Homes. ...see more
I lived at Hounslow West and went to Hounslow Heath infant and junior school. Don’t remember much about the infants. My first teacher in the junior school was Miss/Mrs Roberts. I remember filling up the ink wells in the desks. This would have been about 1959. I then went to Miss Elborn. It was a very large classroom. I remember the ‘nit nurse’ coming regularly to check us. We lived in Lower Feltham and the bus took us to Hounslow which was a great place for shopping for the latest clothes...not that I had a lot of money to spend. In 1957 I started a Parke Davis in the Home Sales Dept. as a very junior junior! Their offices were the latest design and the pay was good. £3.76 my first pay packet. Born in 1938, lived in Isleworth, I was constantly monitored for TB at the clinic as my father died of it when I was 12, I remember the shiney chairs, red and turquoise. The dentist there still holds horrors for me, 8 milk teeth taken out under gas, the mask was really frightening. My Mother afterwards bought me a cardboard fishing set!

I attended Hounslow Heath Infants and then HH Primary School in the fifties. Mr Such was our headmaster and I remember Mr Gilbert as my class teacher who also ran the school soccer team, of which I was a member. I also played for Heston & Isleworth and Middlesex as a junior whilst attending HHPS. I was a football tragic! I don't remember much about my classmates. Memories of a Delivery Boy 50/60s
We moved onto the Beavers Lane Estate in 1951 as it was being built. Our first home was in the Chester Road flats with kids in every flat we soon had a large group of friends, Richard Dave Rosie Carole and Ian and Dave King’s (Entertainer) nephew opposite. A close friend whose birth mother lived in Hounslow, is trying to trace his father - name unknown.
His birth name was Alan Douglas Holness b 1967 and his mother, Jennifer, lived at 430 Staines Rd. He was adopted by a couple from Colchester and now lives in New Zealand under his adoptive names.
He has traced his mum, who married in the 1980s in Australia but she doesn't want to meet him or give him his father's name.

I do remember Saturday nights at Vicky burkes. Yes it was on the corner of the Nelson rd and the Hounslow rd opposite the admiral Nelson pub.
Also on the other corner was Robs sweet shop where you could get penny drinks in vibrant colours.
I played at Vicky Burkes at least once in a band called The College Boys.
No amps in those days.
Members were me Brian Brown, David Naish, Graham Brown and Peter Brown and 3 of us went to kneller
Boys school in the Meadway
I also went to the Saturday Matinee at the Odeon when I was a child I just loved it.
I also went ballroom dancing upstairs and it was fun but not when my feet got trodden on.
My school was Bulstrode Secondary Modern I didn't really like it that much. Loved the kids library as a child, and lampton park
