Hullbridge gained popularity in the 1930s as a mini-resort. It was one of the few places on the Crouch with direct access to the water, hence the attraction for bathers. Its jetties also proved useful for the transportation of building materials. Here we see a number of large rowing-boats that have been converted into house-boats.
