More about this scene

Built during the reign of Elizabeth I, Dockacre House is the oldest home in Launceston. It is reputedly haunted by the ghost of Nicholas Herle, twice Mayor of Launceston and one-time High Sheriff of Cornwall. His wife Elizabeth died in mysterious circumstances here in 1714; and although Nicholas died at Hampstead in 1728, his ghost still haunts the main hall, playing an old English madrigal on his flute when a death is about to occur in the family.
