The steps on the left belong to the building that was once the Jubilee Inn. It stood on a site just in front of the Central Methodist church; there had once been a Wednesday yarn market here. The Jubilee closed as a pub on 13 December 1909 and was converted into flats, before eventually succumbing to slum clearance in 1964.
